I think they're all kind of terrible. And so are we. Maybe we should just accept that, in general, humans, when in large groups, are shit and should never be allowed to make decisions. Of course, that means we have small groups making decisions, and that has proven to typically be even worse. So... where does that leave us? No idea. Except deep in a hole with no light in sight.

And there's your cheerful thought for tonight! 😏

Either way, this was a really interesting review of the situation, and I totally see your point.

What if the promised land was never a physical state but a state of being, like heaven or the kingdom Jesus talked about and brought? What the whole thing is allegory and we our carnal minds failed to grasp the kingdom as a mindset?

A comment beginning with 'what if' is always a bit tricky to parse. So let me cut my response into two parts:

1) Is it theologically valid that the promise might just be spiritual.. no. The promise is given and then implimented physically several times, including such things as dividing the land.

2) How would that affect my view of the Israel/Hamas conflict? Not at all, since I don't think it is currently much of an issue, since the Jews reject Christ and the Law.
