Jellia had been in class now for three decas and was beginning to think that she had a grasp on things, but she managed to be surprised when Leah came into class without a shirt on. A lot of the more advanced daughters and several of the teachers didn’t hardly ever wear shirts, but Leah had pretty much always worn one… up to now. At least always at school.
She had to wait a good half an hour, too, before she could lean over and ask April, “Why is Leah shirtless today?”
“She’s en-edrek-a, obviously! You know she had her e-ne-ska last night. No doubt that was the first thing he commanded. It usually is.”
“Oh,” she said. “Does he go to our school?” she asked.
“I don’t know. I doubt it. They almost never do. It makes it hard before he is fully en-drek, obviously, but ska-drek-u are used to having to go all around. I am so glad I’m not a male. I like my house. Didn’t the daughters go shirtless on your old planet?”
“Well, we didn’t wear skirts, so the only time you could be would be like at home or at the park or swimming where you took everything off.”
“Dresses. Yes, I’ve seen screenies like that. I wouldn’t like it, certainly. I like having the option. Did you like them?”
“Well, I never thought about them, but now that I’m here, no. I like it here, and I especially like wearing skirts.”
Finally physio came and she got to talk to Leah. “What’s he like?” she asked her.
“I showed you his file,” Leah said.
“Yeah, but I mean, personally.”
“Oh, well, he’s old, well, you knew that. He’s very calm, quiet, polite…”
“Boring?”
“Oh, no, I didn’t mean that at all! He’s got this way of making jokes that you don’t notice for a few seconds, like, playing with words and all.”
“And is he interested in you?”
“Oh, yes! But oh, so polite.”
“Could we… I’m exo so I don’t know the rules… could we invite the two of you over? For, like, dinner or dessert or something?”
“Well, yes. Sort of. We could schedule our time at your house, and we would have to come separately, and your ska-drek would have to agree to chaperone.”
“Would you like that?”
“Well… not this deca. Maybe in a deca or two?”
Note: This story is being posted ‘as is’ which, in this case, means that there is a chapter before this that is missing, as I haven’t written it yet. In it Jellia will be discussing with Leah all about en-e-ska, and who her en-e-drek will be etc.
Thank you for reading Von’s Substack. I would love it if you commented! I love hearing from readers, especially critical comments. I would love to start more letter exchanges, so if there’s a subject you’re interested in, get writing and tag me!
Being ‘restacked’ and mentioned in ‘notes’ is very important for lesser-known stacks so… feel free! I’m semi-retired and write as a ministry (and for fun) so you don’t need to feel guilty you aren’t paying for anything, but if you enjoy my writing (even if you dramatically disagree with it), then restack, please! Or mention me in one of your own posts.
If I don’t write you back it is almost certain that I didn’t see it, so please feel free to comment and link to your post. Or if you just think I would be interested in your post!
If you get lost, check out my ‘Table of Contents’ which I try to keep up to date.
Thanks again, God Bless, Soli Deo gloria,
