IllAdvised Resources
A continually updated list of podcasts, stacks, and websites etc that deal with important legal issues
This list will be updated as I get more info. Feel free to suggest other resources in the comments. I will post sites I disagree with, if they have value. I am looking for serious legal analysis (including the law analysed from a theological or other position), serious pointing back to original sources.
If you are the author etc of one of these sites, I would love to do an interview (in writing) with you and post it.
LII Legal Information Institute
Format: Website and Email List
Take: Source Documents
Weakness: You gotta wanta read the original document
Strength: Go straight to the source and read the opinions… yourself!
Blog and MaBlog
Format: Podcast and Website
Host: Doug Wilson
Take: Serious Reformed Christian on politics and culture
Weakness: Occasionally blows right past objections, straw man, assumes some modern CC culture
Strength: Gets at profound cultural issues from a Serious Christian perspective. Largely fearless. Goes back to God’s Law instead of starting with man’s law.
Fully Informed Jury Association
Format: Website and Social Media
Take: Jury Nullification
Weakness: One issue oriented, tendency to focus on one side of the political spectrum (ie more likely to worry about convictions for marijuana possession than gun possession)
Strength: Excellent Resource, great source info
Tenth Amendment Center
Format: Website and Facebook
Take: Limited Government
Weakness: Tends to overpost. Good stuff, but a lot of it.
Strength: Great take on the original meaning of US Constitution and how it has been perverted.
Cato
Format: Website and Podcast
Take: Libertarian
Weakness: Typical one rose coloured glass look at legal affairs.
Strength: When they do look at an issue honestly, the tend to do a good thorough job.
Short Circuit
Format: Podcast
Take: Small Government Conservative
Weakness: I haven’t listened to this often enough
Strength: From Institute for Justice
Advisory Opinions Podcast
Format: Podcast
Hosts: Sara and David
Take: Modern center right squish.
Weakness: Treats the law as god. David French gives really bad comparisons. Like, awful!
Strength: Entertaining and can get deep on issues where they aren’t too prejudiced.
Divided Argument Podcast
Format: Podcast
(I’ve just started listening to this podcast)
Family Court Shenanigans
Format: Substack
(I’ve just started following this substack)
Injustice at Work
Format: Substack
(I’ve just started following this substack)
Americans for Parental Equality
Format: FB page
Weakness: Non-Biblical worldview causes them to advocate for some immoral things
Strength: Points out unequal treatment of men and women in the courts, often links to important resources for source documents.
Again… I’m open to suggestions. Put them in the comments. I’m open to doing interviews. Indeed, I could interview you in respect to your comment :)
