This is going to be a bizarre post. I am going to lay out the format for a book I am considering writing, and ask for comments. It won’t be the book, just the idea for the book.
Introduction
The title of the book, as it currently stands, is “You were You Before You were Born.” It is meant to be a children’s book, although what age children’s book will depend on the view of the parents. My goal would be for it to be used starting very, very young.
The goal of the book would be two-fold. Or, one goal with two or more foundations. The sovereignty of God, and the evil of abortion(killing a child in the womb). The idea that since it is God that has and is creating the child, it is blasphemous to kill her. Along the way it covers basic sex ed… as a way of describing the process God designed and uses to produce the child.
Format
The format for this book would be a children’s two page book. You know, not a chapter book where you read page one then page two, but younger than that, where you open to a page one/two spread, with one set of artwork that binds both pages, and a set of text that fits with the artwork.
Each set of pages would have one full colour artwork, one Bible verse, one simple text in large print, and one more complex text in smaller print. For the artwork I’m hoping to use old public domain paintings, famous ones.

Introduction for the Parents
Ps 139:13-16
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
We live in an age that rejects God and all of His works. One of the most important things that our culture rejects is marriage and children. This rejection is almost total: we are getting married later if at all, divorce is rampant, we murder the children that we manage to conceive, and we shame breastfeeding. And that doesn’t even cover sodomy and transgenderism; fornication, pornography, and adultery.
This book is written for parents to gently introduce children at a young age to the issues of marriage and God’s sovereignty. We pray it will be used as an introduction to the issues of marriage, sexuality, breastfeeding and the blasphemy that is child murder.
This is meant to be a ‘graphic’ book. It will include images of Adam and Eve sans fig leaf, birth, and open breastfeeding. (Only in modern times would that last be seen as graphic, which is a sign of our depravity.)
Before Creation
Verse:
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Ephesians 1:4
Picture:
Design dark moving to light, abstract, planets and things
Short text:
Before God created the world He had a plan for you.
Longer Text:
Even before God said, “Let there be light,” He already had you in mind. He knew all about Adam and Eve, all about their children, and all their children down to your parents and then you.
Adam and Eve
Verse:
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.Image: Adam and Eve, graphic, in garden with animals
Genesis 1:27-18
Picture:
Graphic public domain old art of Adam and Eve. In the garden. Pre-fall.
Short Text:
God created the first man and the first woman to be parents for everyone else.
Longer Text:
When God created Adam and Eve, He created them to have children. To have lots and lots of children, who would have lots and lots of children, and fill up the whole Earth. It takes a man and a woman to have children, and that’s who He created.
Mother and Father getting married
Verse:
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Matthew 19:5
Image:

Short Text:
God knew that your mommy would marry your daddy!
Longer Text:
Nothing is a surprise to God. He planned that your mother and father would marry, and when. It was all part of His plan for them to be your parents, and for you to follow Him.
One Flesh
Verse:
And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
Mark 10:8
Image:
Man and woman naked in bed. Obvious but not graphic.
Short Text:
One night your mommy and your daddy made love and you were conceived!
Longer Text:
Babies are conceived when a man and a woman, a mother and a father, lay together. The seed from the man goes deep into the woman and meets one of her eggs, and they come together to make a baby. This is the way that God designed it, and all of His ways are very good.
Growing Growing
Verse:
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
Psalm 139:14
Image:
Graphic child in womb in mother
Short Text:
After you were conceived, you grew inside your mother’s womb.
Longer Text:
God designed your mother’s body to grow babies. She has a special place inside called a uterus that provides a safe, nourishing location for the baby to grow.
Born
Verse:
And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Job 1:21
Image:
Graphic Birth
Short Text:
When God decided the time was right, you came out of your mother.
Longer Text:
The Bible talks a lot about being born. Jesus even used it as an example for how God teaches us about Him! God designed the woman’s body to be able to carry the baby, and then to push her out into the world. It is a very hard time for the mother. But she is very joyful to finally see her baby.
Breasts
Verse:
But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
Psalm 22:9
Image:
Graphic Breastfeeding
Short Text:
God designed your mother’s body to provide you milk.
Longer Text:
A mother’s milk is the best food for the baby. In the past when mother’s breasts couldn’t make milk, they would ask another woman to feed their baby. God even used Miriam, Moses’s sister, to help her mother be able to feed him with her own breasts!
You!
Verse:
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127:3-5
Image:
Children playing, boys and girls and different ages
Short Text:
You were you before you were born, and God has plans for you
Longer Text:
You are the child of your mother and father, but you are also a child of God. He planned for you, designed you, and created you inside your mother. It is important that you serve Him already in all that you do.
Conclusion for the Parents
Psalm 128:1-6
Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.
For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.
The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.
This book is not intended to stand alone. It is intended to start conversations between the parents and the children, conversations about sex and birth, abortion, the sovereignty of God, breastfeeding, birth control… all sorts of conversations. It is not intended for the parent to read the book to the children, or let the children read the book, and then wash their hands and say, “There, I’ve done my duty.”
Gen 31:1-2
And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.
And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?
Our society has turned the value of children on its head. In the past not only Godly believers but pretty much the whole society would die to have children, and die for their children. Today children are seen as a burden.
I covet your comments.
Thank you for reading Von’s Substack. I would love it if you commented! I love hearing from readers, especially critical comments. I would love to start more letter exchanges, so if there’s a subject you’re interested in, get writing and tag me!
Being ‘restacked’ and mentioned in ‘notes’ is very important for lesser-known stacks so… feel free! I’m semi-retired and write as a ministry (and for fun) so you don’t need to feel guilty you aren’t paying for anything, but if you enjoy my writing (even if you dramatically disagree with it), then restack, please! Or mention me in one of your own posts.
If I don’t write you back it is almost certain that I didn’t see it, so please feel free to comment and link to your post. Or if you just think I would be interested in your post!
If you get lost, check out my ‘Table of Contents’ which I try to keep up to date.
Thanks again, God Bless, Soli Deo gloria,
Von
