So is this a whole story or part of one?

This is the latest chapter in my story 'Article 17'. It takes place in space, and the culture is reminiscent of Napoleonic Era Britain. The political situation is a fairly new dictatorship, which arose to power when the previous government (royalist) proved incompetent at the war with the aliens.

The 'hero' of the story is Cladin Tomirosh, who has three 'Dictator's Own' medal, a medal of honour equivelant. He uses one of the Dictator's laws, Article 17, to get himself married to Illoia Su-Tarreno (Illoia, daughter of the govenour of Tarreno, indeed the entire sector). She is snobby and smart, he is brave, socially inept, and hums all the time. They are on their way to the front lines of the war.

Glad you are enjoying it. Did you start from the beginning, or is this your first chapter?

I just happened upon it so I did not read any other chapters-definitely will. It stood alone very nicely for me though I missed some of the context, I was immediately pulled into the dance dynamic between the two mains 😊

Yeah, the context and culture is a bit complex.

Question: Is it Article II or Article IV she's concerned about? Or both?

Well, she has consented, however unwillingly, to be his wife, and neither one of them has run off screaming into the night, so that's progress, I suppose.

And even poor Medinia has someone to dance with. 💃 I hope she's enjoying herself.

Things do happen fast aboard ship, don't they? (And I know it's mostly because we're getting it piecemeal, but it seems like this dance is going on forever.)
