The confusion lies in the statements that appear to contradict that. John 3:16 for instance seems to contradict 1st John 2vs 2 “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” I mean what about those that never hear of Him in the country the are from? I'd say there are many in South America and Africa that have never heard of any of this. And when I read Psalms 103 it seems as if David would have been described as a deist if we were to take the common definition to heart.
